Here is another take on ruffled headband that I designed. Add a topper to a headband and you have a new cute and unusual hat. I used two different colors for the band and the crown for a color-block effect, but by all means feel free to make it in one color. The hat turns out very stretchy, so it fits a wide range of head sizes.

Skill level: beginner to intermediate
Finished dimensions: One size fits most girls and women (head circumference about 21-22 inches).
Yarn: worsted weight yarn; color A – about 1.5 oz, color B (about 1 oz). Small amount of waste yarn.
Needles: double point needles 3.75mm/US5 and straight 5mm/US8 or size to obtain gauge.
Other materials: tapestry needle.
Gauge: 11 st and 13 rows = 2” (stockinette stitch on smaller needles)
