This modern classic men’s pullover can be made with a fitted, tapered body or a roomier untapered version. Made from a sport weight yarn, this sweater is a great layering piece: it’s light enough that when worn indoors, you won’t overheat.

An apparently simple pattern, there are a number of features designed in to give an optimal fit.

  • The sleeves are a hybrid of saddle shoulder and raglan with a set of ribs running up each which gives a tidy appearance with room to move your arms.

  • There are short rows shaping the shoulder slope on the front and back pieces.

  • The tapered torso avoids extra fabric around the waist while ensuring a good fit through the shoulders and chest.

Pattern takes 8 (9, 9, 10, 10, 11, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15) balls of the specified yarn.

2023 revision adds some notes on adapting the zip front to a button placket instead.
