> Sandstone + Shale
Sandstone + Shale
This design was born to highlight the beautiful variations of tonally dyed yarns. The undulating fabric is inspired by the classic Old Shale stitch pattern, but with a twist. Just as a jazz performer improvises within the framework of their craft, when you knit this blanket you get to decide where and when to place the wavy purl ridges throughout. Wrong-side rows may be worked as knit or purl rows, creating a texture that enhances the tonal striations of the yarn. For a more traditional look, a solid-color yarn will also work well). With a wide range of sizes, from crib blanket to king-size coverlet, this textural improvisation will result in a one-of-a-kind piece every time you knit it.
