This lace shawl is knitted with Orenburg square shawl construction and Southwestern (USA) design elements. It is a small square shawl (or large scarf) with 26 points per side that can be worked in a variety of yarn thicknesses.

I prefer using yarns on the finer side of lace weight, starting in the 30/2 range, but if you prefer, the pattern works well with fingering yarns.

I’m drawn to the symbols and graphic motifs from my home in the desert Southwest of the United States. The textile traditions here are old and varied from the Anasazi (the old ones) to ancient and modern Pueblo and Navajo textiles.
