Sasha's Sunday Best
Sasha’s Sunday Best came about in response to a request from Dorita Mortensen, editor of Doll Castle News magazine. She originally asked for an accessory -- a sweater, a hat, a shawl -- for her Sasha doll. However, sometimes I just look at a doll and “see” her in a completed outfit -- in this case, it was a lace-trimmed red dress. “Sasha’s Snowflake Dress” first appeared in the November & December issue of Doll Castle News. As much as I liked the original outfit, though, it just wasn’t quite complete. Remembering Dorita’s original request, I came up with the perfect accessory, “Sasha’s Sensational Shawl,” which appeared in the March & April 2024 DCN. And of course, people wanted to know how I got the skirt to “pouf” out the way it did -- “Sasha’s Crinoline Half-Slip” followed in the May & June DCN.
So, you see, it really is a dress for all seasons! Though tailored for Sasha dolls, it should fit any 16 inch (or thereabouts) little girl doll with a chest approx. 8-3/4 inches, waist approx. 8-1/4 inches, and hips approx. 9 inches. Want a little bit longer dress? Add a few rows to the skirt! Instructions are also included for lengthening and/or widening the shawl.
This versatile ensemble crocheted in size 10 cotton thread includes Dress, Hairband/Sash, Shawl, Crinoline Half-Slip, and, as a bonus, the pattern for the snowflake she holds in the original photograph!
The “Sasha’s Sunday Best“ pattern set is available as an electronic download, but if you prefer, a print-on-demand version can be ordered exclusively from https://www.treasuredheirloomscrochet.com/e-sasha-sunday-...
