The clean simplicity of sashiko embroidery is enchanting. It’s elegant and modern with its repeating geometric forms, yet reaches back to a traditional fiber art.

This pullover was inspired by sashiko and is worked from the top down, featuring a colorwork motif and linen stitch to keep the open, free-fl owing design. The sleeves are worked to three-quarter length and embellished with a section of the yoke motif. This beautiful sweater is intended to have a generous fi t in the Japanese fashion and is perfect for a day in the galleries. The collar, cuffs, and bottom edge are worked in linen stitch, and the bind-off creates a lovely, almost picot-like finish.
