Sometimes when you set out to make a new design, the yarn demands to be a certain way. No amount of cajoling, nagging or swatching will make it be what it doesn’t want to be. So it was with the Sassian Scarf. The Cole yarn from Anzula is a heady mixture of camel and silk fibers, a blend perfectly suited for the changeable weather of spring and fall. The yarn’s weight and drape make it ideal for this open lace scarf. The sinuous lines of twisted knits wend their way back and forth among the lace pattern for the length of the scarf which works up quickly in the yarn’s aran weight.

All Woolyn patterns are named after locales past and present in NYC. Sassian was the Native American term for the area that was renamed “Roode Hoeck” or Red Hook by Dutch settlers for the red clay found in the area.
