Back in the 90’s when Saturday Night by Whigfield was popular, I lived in Spain next to an open-air club. If you’ve ever seen a crowd doing the dance to this song, I’m sure you know right away why I created a ‘waves’ pattern for these socks.

These socks are worked from the cuff down with heel flap and gusset. The pattern is continued onto the heel flap and the toe.

You can choose to work the ‘waves pattern’ from the charts or from the written instructions.

Sizes
Women’s M and L to fit leg circumference 18.75 (21.25) cm 7.5 (8.5)”. Leg length including heel is 23 (23.5) cm 9 (9.25)”, adjustable (see notes). Foot length is adjustable.

Material
One skein of fingering weight yarn with a yardage of approximately 402 m (440 yds) per 100 g
Used in the sample: Posh Yarn Jeannie Sock (366 m 400 yds / 100 g; 100% Merino) in Harmony is Everything
2.5 mm / US size 1 1/2 DPNs or circular needles for your preferred way to knit in the round
2 stitch markers, cable needle, darning needle

Gauge
32 sts /42 rows = 10 cm/4” in Twisted Rib, blocked
34 sts /42 rows = 10 cm/4” in Waves pattern, blocked

Please note that there are several charts and the corresponding written instructions provided, so the pattern is rather long. Should you wish to print it you might want to print only the instructions (charts or written) you want to use.

The Saturday Night pattern is also included in the Eight Days A Week collection.
