Stitched in classic retro colors, the Save Me a Spot Blanket will add a warm and inviting touch to any room.

This 60- by 48-inch blanket incorporates a variation of the two-color interlocking block stitch into a unique design that resembles woven fabric.

In each row, groups of 3 stitches are skipped after working a chain-3. In the next row, you will work over the chain-3 and into the skipped stitches. The beauty of this stitch pattern is that it’s easy to see the stitches into which you will work, as they will always be directly below a chain-3.

The blanket is worked lengthwise on the right side throughout. The yarn is fastened off at the end of each row and reattached at the beginning of the next row, starting and ending with an 8-inch tail. These tails will later be incorporated into a fringe.

This beginner-friendly pattern is a great introduction to simple colorwork. Best of all, the fabric is reversible!

For the blanket shown here, I used Cascade 220 medium (worsted) weight wool yarn (220 yds/201 m; 3.5 oz/100 g per hank): 11 hanks of #8010 Natural, 2 hanks of #2448 Mallard, 1 hank each of #9451 Lake Chelan Heather, #9564 Birch Heather, and #2453 Pumpkin Spice

For a 2-color blanket (1 Main Color and 1 Contrasting Color for the stripes), you will need approx. 1100g of medium-weight yarn for the Main Color and 400g of medium-weight yarn for the Contrasting Color. The blanket in the last photo was made by Randy Cavaliere using Red Heart Super Saver in white for the Main Color and Icelandic for the Contrasting Color.

Yarn Note
• Pattern is designed for medium-weight yarn. Lighter or heavier weight yarns may be used. A different weight yarn may require a different size hook, as well as more or less yarn than noted. Working with a thinner or thicker yarn may result in different gauge measurements, which will affect the Finished Measurements.
