Scarf Trick: A Sweater and A Vest
Of course, you can make a sweater (or a vest).
You’ve already made a scarf or 2 (or 20). These
garments are worked entirely in garter stitch
(knitting all the time, every stitch, every row). It is
the work of 4 to 6 scarves. There is some fun in a
quick seaming method and button tabs that can be
added later with little concern for planning where
they need to land.
Needles: US 11, Large crochet hook or tapestry
needle, 3 large buttons (7/8” to 1.5”)
Sizes: 30(32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52,
54, 56, 58, 60)”
Yarn:
For Sweater: 677(722, 767, 812, 857, 902, 948,
992, 1037,1082, 1128, 1173, 1218, 1263, 1308,
1353) yds
For Vest:429(458, 486, 515, 544, 572, 600, 629,
658, 686, 715, 744, 772, 800, 830, 858) yds
Designer Note: Upon having released this pattern at the Store I work (anacapfineyarns.com), I have seen all ranges of knitters find fun in this garment. I though that it would be purely a gateway for scarf knitters to enter sweater making. I am excited about the general appeal.
