A richly coloured tam, inspired by the autumnal landscape of Shetland’s South Mainland, and the distinctive petal-shaped walls of the dwellings at Old Scatness.

Shetland Wool; 118m/25g balls)
MC: shade 202: 2 x 25g ball
CC1: shade FC58: 1 x 25g ball
CC2: shade FC14: 1 x 25g ball
CC3: shade FC56: 1 x 25g ball
CC4: shade FC55: 1 x 25g ball
CC5: shade FC38: 1 x 25g ball
CC6: shade FC12: 1 x 25g ball
CC7: shade 1A: 1 x 25g ball
Small quantity (less than 46m/50yds) of soft 4 ply yarn for brim lining. Sample used Orkney Angora 4 ply
Other materials
3mm (UK 11/US 2-3) circular needles in the following lengths: 2 x 40cm/16in long
3mm (UK 11/US 2-3) dpns (for finishing crown)
3.25mm (UK 10/US D/3) crochet hook
Waste yarn (a smooth cotton 4 ply will work best as it won’t stick to your main yarn)
