A generous crescent shaped shawl with gently diverging filet crochet zig zags, designed to work at right angles to the colour changes. An engaging and enjoyable crochet pattern with tons of drape for those who like something a little different.

Note that this shawl is designed to be worn draped over the shoulders, not wrapped around the neck

Skills Used:
This pattern uses only two simple stitches for the majority of the project; extended double crochet and chains. Because of the filet crochet zig zag pattern and attention to detail required, I would class this as an intermediate level pattern, though it would suit any crocheter who is confident in following written patterns.

A filet crochet style chart is included to illustrate how the zig zag pattern develops

Finished Size:
The finished shawl you see pictured measures approximately 52cm/21in deep and has a wingspan of 182cm/73in (length on the neck side as worn) after a gentle blocking

Materials:
This pattern uses a 4mm crochet hook (or size needed to obtain gauge) and approximately 250-265g or 1000m/1100yds fingering or 4ply weight yarn

The item pictured uses a single custom shawl cake from Crochet UK, 50% cotton, 50% acrylic, 265g cake = 1000m/1100yds.

You will also need two stitch markers as well as the traditional notions.

The pattern is written in English using standard US crochet terminology.
