Scripey Sweater
Pricing update: I have increased my prices to more accurately represent the work that has gone into the making of my patterns. All my patterns have increased in prices, however my newer designs have increased more than my old ones, as I feel I have learned a lot over the years and the quality of my newer designs is higher. The price listed reflects what I believe is fair for the work put into the design, however I understand that the price increases may be inaccessible to some and am offering some tiered discounts for those that need them.
A “Choose What You Pay” model is available for this pattern, allowing both financial accessibility and fair pricing. The buyer may pay what they are able while still valuing the hard work invested to create this design. Use the codes below in order to pay the price listed after each. Choose whichever price works best for you!
- No Code – Full Price = $12.00 CAD
- PK10 – 10% off = $10.80 CAD
- PK20 – 20% off = $9.60 CAD
- PK30 – 30% off = $8.40 CAD
I also offer a Buy 3, Get 1 Free discount! Add any 4 of my patterns to your cart, and use the code BUY3GET1 to get the 4th pattern free! Note: the free pattern will be the lowest priced pattern.
The Scripey Sweater was named after a verbal slip up! I was talking about this sweater and was trying to say both scrappy and stripey and accidentally said Scripey, so I decided to name the sweater that! It has a fold over turtle-neck and is worked top down raglan style. The collar, sleeves and bottom hem are one colour and 1x1 ribbed, and the body is knit in stripes in stockinette with the colour change rows in purl stitch which creates a really fun colour change! The sweater is designed to fall to a mid-long crop level. The pattern will have options for adding extra length if desired. The sweater is designed for 1-5 inches of positive ease. It can even be worn inside out for another fun look!
Sizes offered: 30 (33.3, 36.6, 40) {43.3, 46.6, 50} (53.3, 56.6, 60) {63.3, 66.6, 70}
Sizes 63.3, 66.6 and 70 are untested. If you are interested in knitting these sizes, and willing to provide feedback, I will gift you the pattern in exchange!
Note: These measurements are for the FINISHED bust size in inches, and the sweater is designed for 1-5 inches of positive ease. To determine the best size for you, measure your actual bust in inches, and add 1 to 5 inches depending on how fitted you want the sweater to be. If you are right in between sizes, size up if you want a looser fit, or size down if you want a more fitted garment.
Needles required:
Note: I recommend using a set of interchangeable needles for this pattern, as you will need multiple needle sizes and multiple cord lengths
8 mm for body - 16 inch and 32 inch+ cord for body, 16 inch cord or DPNs for sleeves (could also use the magic loop method with your longer cord)
6 mm for ribbing - 16 inch cord for collar, 32+ inch cord for body hem, longer cord with magic loop method or DPNs for sleeves
Gauge:
4” x 4” = 12 sts x 14 rows (8 mm needles, in the round and in stockinette, after blocking)
1” x 1” = 3 sts x 3.5 rows
Make sure to complete a gauge swatch and adjust needle size if needed!
Note: if your stitch count is correct for gauge but row count is a tiny bit off, continue using this needle size, but keep in mind you may need to adjust your length a bit.
Yarn required:
At least 4-5 colours of any bulky weight yarn that you can get gauge with
- I used Knitpicks Biggo (110 yds per 100 g ball)
- You will need one colour for the collar/cuffs/bottom hem. This will be termed the Ribbing Colour for yardage estimates. I used Biggo Dove Heather.
- For the body stripes, I used 4 different colours, though you really could use as many as you like! I think 3-4 would be the minimum number because you want enough that you can alternate between them in a random order. These will be termed the Body Colours for yardage estimates. Don’t worry about individual yardage for each colour, you just need to make sure you have enough for the total body yardage. I used Biggo Pinot Heather, Magnolia Heather, Aurora Heather and North Pole Heather for the Body Colours.
Yardage required:
Ribbing Colour: 130 (130, 140, 145) {155, 160, 165} (170, 175, 180) {190, 195, 200{
Body Colours: 375 (450, 510, 560) {615, 685, 765} (840, 900, 950) {990, 1060, 1115}
Note: Yardage is an approximation and is calculated using the recommended length. Allow for extra yardage if choosing to do any length modification. The yardage can vary depending on your gauge and knitting, so I always recommend buying extra in case you require more yardage.
Extra notions required:
Lots of stitch markers! 7 markers (ideally of one colour) for raglan seams, 1 marker (second colour) for the remaining raglan seam/BOR marker
Scissors
Yarn needle
Scrap yarn or extra cord for holding sections of the work
Row counter is recommended!
