Sea Star in the Seaweed Beanie
The beanie is knitted in the round. The sea star and seaweed are knitted separately and attached to the beanie just at enough points to keep them in place.
An intermediate level knitter should be fine with this pattern, though the sea star and seaweed use a number of more unusual techniques.
Instructions are given for head sizes 18” (46 cm), 21” (53 cm), and 23” (58 cm). These correspond to child, small adult and medium-large adult sizes.
Yarn:
The beanie is knitted with sport weight yarn. You may use any sport weight yarn, but the yarns used in the hats pictured are Knit Picks Hawthorne Sport and Hobii Carnival.
The sea star and seaweed are knitted with sock or fingering weight yarn. A yarn with at least 70% wool will block into shape more easily. Unless you can steam block acrylic it probably won’t work for the seaweed.
