Overlay mosaic crochet pattern inspired by the “predawn dance” performed by courting Seahorses.

The idea for this design came from a few members of my facebook group Rosina Crochets, when responding to teasers I had posted for my On The Seashore CAL.

On The Seashore is made up of various shells, but these members were hoping for a general sea theme, including Seahorses … and this got me thinking that Seahorses would actually look pretty cool combined with the shells.

Fast Forward a month or so, and the design has been written up and tested in record time … just in time to insert between Parts 2 and 3 of the CAL in fact! xx

The pattern is written for three sizes, ranging from 58 x 75 cm baby comforter blanket to a 144 x 180 cm adult throw, but it also includes additional information to enable you to easily make a different size if you wish.

To simplify the abbreviations, and avoid the need for separate UK and US versions, the pattern is written in my ’Universal’ terms (I developed these terms for the Jacquard Temperature Blanket and have also used them in Flora’s Fauna, HoHoHo and On The Seashore).

If you want to find out more about my Universal terms, please see this short video https://youtu.be/IsubXOfEuVw

The pattern includes various suggestions for fringes.
It doesn’t include a border, but if you do prefer an envelope border, Part 5 of on The Seashore would be perfect … or for a free option you could use the border included in my mosaic crochet tutorial, which can be downloaded from my website.

The 48-stitch repeat also makes Seahorse Soulmates Mosaic easy to combine with many of my other mosaic crochet designs, including Flora’s Fauna, Meow!, Woof!, March Hare, Woodland Trail, Letitia’s Garden, and of course On The Seashore.
