Autumn is a wonderful time in Maine, the classic New England fall weather is perfect for exploring this beautiful state. Whether it is apple picking, a day at the local fair, or a ferry ride to a nearby island, at this time of the year the temperatures do cool down, so you need to have a sweater handy. A vest is perfectly suited for the purpose, a little extra warmth with minimal bulk. Seal Island Vest was created for just this sort of occasion. It is a combination of what my boys will wear, and what I want to be knitting.

The vest is worked in one piece from bottom up, back and forth using circular needles to accommodate the number of stitches (do not join to work body in the round). At the armholes, the back and fronts are separated and worked one at a time. Armhole Ribbing, Neck Ribbing, and Front Bands are picked up and worked, then I-cord toggle loops are added to complete garment.
