Season to Blossom Advent Shawl
December 23,2023: the entire pattern is now published in sections. The final section has the instructions for the flower embroidery.
Right now each part has a chart and written instructions, spread over 2 pages in landscape format. The charts on several sections are rather large, so the size of the boxes is very small. I recommend using the written instructions for these sections, but the charts give a good visual of what is happening.

This MKAL advent shawl pattern is a special one with plenty of flowers and leaves.
It is crescent shaped and has a wide variety of different stitch patterns that are linked together with the same mossy seed stitch border. A soft cably edge is knit at the same time, using the intarsia technique. The pattern is broken down into 23 sections to accompany any advent yarn calendar, but can also be worked up with a single yarn. Some sections will require more yarn than others. Enough said, I won’t give away any more clues!
Oh… one other thing. The first day will use 3 colours by the cast on, so if you are using an advent calender you will need to make the difficult choice of either waiting 2 days to cast on, or to open the first 3 at the same time. Or use a contrasting yarn that is not included in the advent pack for the cable edges (on both sides).
What will you need? 24x 20 grams of fingering weight yarn (Total amount used is appr. 230 grams) (DK or sport also possible- but will make it quite a bit bigger)
or
at least 230 grams of a single colour yarn, should you prefer to make the entire shawl the same colour.
Needles – 3,5 mm (US 3) or what you need to get an airy fabric
Size: Deepest point 50cm (20”) / length 2meters from tip to tip (78”)
Gauge: is not relevant I used 3,75mm needles for my second shawl and it turned out much larger even without blocking. It weighed in total 273 grams as well.
The pattern will be split into 8 sections with 3 days of knitting per section.
Part 1 will be available on Nov. 30 (Days 1-3)
Part 2 on December 4 (Days 4-6)
Part 3 on December 7 (Days 7-9)
Part 4 on December 9 (Days 10-12)
Part 5 on December 13 (Days 13-15)
Part 6 on December 16 (Days 16-18)
Part 7 on December 19 (Days 19-21)
Part 8 on December 22 (Days 22-23)
