This is an original amigurumi crochet pattern designed by me (Smiley Crochet Things) to make a sloth figure which can sit or hang. The pattern includes detailed instructions and pictures.

Crochet Sebastian the sloth yourself as a perfect gift for a child, or as an ornament to hang somewhere around the home or office (or anywhere else you can think to put him!)

Intermediate Beginner pattern - some crochet knowledge is useful although only basic stitches are required (chain stitch, single crochet, slip stitch, double crochet and half double crochet are used within this pattern). This pattern uses the amigurumi method of working in spirals.

Using the materials suggested this pattern makes a sloth that is 17cm (7 inches) tall and 16cm (6.5 inches) wide. Any yarn can be used with an appropriate sized hook, although other weights of yarn will affect the size of the finished item. No required tension, as long as it is worked fairly tight so the stuffing doesn’t show through the holes.

Materials:

  • dk/light worsted (8ply) yarn in the required colours (yarn used for picture was Drops Lima, a wool and alpaca blend yarn)
  • 3mm crochet hook
  • 9mm black safety eyes
  • Polyester toy stuffing
  • Sew on snap fasteners

Please always check materials and current safety standards before giving to a small child.

Thank you for purchasing my pattern, I hope you enjoy creating your sloth as much as I enjoyed creating this pattern.

Note that the instructions are for the sloth only, the leaves in the pictures are just for decoration and are shapes cut from felt.
