Secession Cowl
Simplicity and decorativeness united in this cowl reminds of the Viennese Secession movement (the Austrian Art Nouveau). While worn the cowl looks like a shawl, but it is more practical as there are no dangling points to get into your food or cooking. My all time favourite Secession shawl is the inspiration for this cowl.
Secession Cowl is one of three patterns from the Recowled e-book.
Secession Mitts match the cowl.
The knitting starts with a provisional cast on. Then the asymmetric fabric is worked flat sideways in one piece. After binding off at the bottom edge of the cowl, stitches are picked up from one side and worked together with the cast on stitches using three-needle bind off. Beads are optional but highly recommended.
For information about sizes, measurements and yarn requirements please check the second page of the pattern located among the photos on the left. The pattern is fully written out and charted.
I asked test knitters what they would like to tell about the pattern and the finished shawl to other knitters and here are some of their answers:
Rebs16: Great pattern, beautiful cowl.
Rutast: It’s cozy, super light and so elegant!
ftmhling: If you like an unusual shape, sleek and stylish cowl then you should knit this one!
Lyonesset: The pattern is well written and has explanations for the things that you will need to knit the cowl. The photographs are good and add value. The knitting is interesting and the shaping changes kept me engaged.
Vaida It’s stylish, it’s comfortable to wear, it’s impressing!
