These socks were inspired by the seed pods that fall from the sweet gum tree in the fall and early winter in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a kid, I remember kicking these little seed pods down the sidewalk and crunching in the piles of leaves with my mom and sister.

This sock is worked from the cuff down with a twisted rib cuff. The leg detail is a combination of 1x1 cables and half double crochet bobbles. The sock has a heel flap and gusset with a square heel, stockinette through the foot and a wedge toe. The focal point is the leg detail which is ideal for poking out of the top of ankle boots in the fall.
