This sock pattern is one of 28 in my ebook, Personal Footprints for Insouciant Sock Knitters. My Personal Footprint method is fun and easy, and captivates even seasoned sock knitters with its innovative approach and ease of fitting any foot. It is ideal for normal feet as well as feet with unusually high or low insteps, and heels of all sizes and shapes.

The design is inspired by the Sword Ferns that carpet our Pacific Northwestern forests. The sock is worked in two different fiber blends dyed alike, and the leg appears bathed in sunlight because its yarn contains luminous silk. The tip of the fern frond rises above the cuff, seeking sunlight, as ferns do on the shady, sun-dappled foliage floors of our beautiful forests.
