This shawl can be made with four skeins of our Luster Sport yarn, and it is adjustable. However, gauge is important to the making of this item. Please take the time to make a gauge swatch to ensure that your gauge is the same as the designer’s. This pattern uses almost all of Colors A and D, so swatch with Color B or C.
If those colors aren’t available, any from this category will work.
NEEDLES:
US size 5 (3.75 mm) 32” (60 cm) or longer circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
This Adventurous Beginner to Intermediate pattern is for those knitters who are ready to learn some new skills or stitch combinations. Stitches include short rows with wrap and turn, p2tog decreases, yo increases, and slipped stitches.
Notes from the Designer:
The Parisian Blues kit immediately brought to mind the scenic beauty of the Seine River. Imagine strolling across one of the many bridges in Paris with this shawl draped around you. Short rows create subtle shifts in a basic wave pattern, mimicking ripples in a river. This technique is much easier if you use stitch markers at each pattern repeat as directed. If you prefer, you can omit short rows altogether and simply repeat the six-row Set-Up section until you use up each color or have your desired number of rows. You can also customize the length; each pattern repeat is 18 stitches, with three stitches added to both ends to create the edging. Cast on in any multiple of 18 stitches plus six.

- Blocking makes a DRASTIC difference in overall dimensions. Be sure to WASH and BLOCK a gauge swatch made from the Set-Up section to ensure your results. This pattern uses almost all of Colors A and D, so swatch with Color B or C.
- The size is adjustable. Cast on is a multiple of 18 + 6.
