This scarf for this scoodie finishes its own edges provided we set it up correctly. The scarf fabric is tuck and a machine with patterning ability is needed but a bulky, mid-gauge or standard gauge may be used. The trick is to begin and end on the bed in exactly the position  that will cause the tuck to make the scalloped edges. In most  yarns, it does require significant steaming to make to stop the roll but it is not necessary to kill the  yarn and it is SO pretty and easy. The scarf and hood are knitted separately, then sewn together. The sample is made with Mary  Maxim Big Ball of Yarn which is a light worsted #4 yarn. The  tuck stitch is worked at stitch size  4  on the bulky machine. At a larger  stitch size with plenty of weight, it  will also knit on the mid-gauge. If using a standard gauge machine, use  a fingering weight yarn such as  Tamm 3 ply Astracryl using a stitch  size of 5-7. Use weights for tuck.
