Serangoon
5 for 4 – if you buy any 5 Åsa Tricosa patterns at the same time you get the least expensive one for free.
This lovely stole is a riff on Bakau and Jamie’s Shawl -- some swags, a little mesh, some fabulous, billowy borders. Serangoon is quite lacy, almost ornate and yet it has a contemporary stylised look.
It is knitted in opposite directions from a central provisional cast on, one half at a time (it is important that you use the linked Winding Cast-On and not a crocheted or other provisional CO as some knitters have recently discovered).
- written out line-by-line
- charted
Gauge: 1 swag repeat = approx 5.5cm x 16cm (2” x 6.5”) -- DFY Lace
NOTE: It is important that you use the Winding Cast On and not substitute with some other provisional cast on.

The beaded Bind Off is optional and features just a small sprinkling of beads.
There is also an alternative crocheted bind off.
Difficulty level: Not for beginners unless quite brave… mostly because of the mesh section. It’s not wildly difficult but requires focus and is a bit difficult to repair if something has gone wrong.
