When I started making this pattern, I had absolutely no clue what it would turn into, so it was completely serendipitous that it turned into this mandala. Then, I felt as if I were cheating on my squares a bit, so I made a square to go along with it.

Size:
The finished mandala measures 13 in. across.
The finished square measures 8 in. across.

Depending on your tension, yours may come out bigger or smaller, even if you use the stated yarn and hook size. To adjust the square’s size, you can change your tension, yarn weight, and/or hook size.

• Mandala - 3-15 yds. of 8 colors & 35-40 yds. of 3 colors
• Square Version 1 - 3-15 yds. of 11 colors & 35-40 yds. of 1 color
• Square Version 2 - 25-35 yds. of 2 colors & 60-65 yds. of 1 color

There are many Special Stitches in this pattern. Detailed instructions are given for Special Stitches.

This pattern also uses Starting and Standing Stitches in place of chains, with detailed instructions provided, though you can use chains if you’d prefer.
