Worked from the bottom up in pieces this cardigan has cabled Adventure cables crossed over more traditional cables and crisp vertical lines of twisted knit stitches. The wide front bands of patterning are continued up the front and around the back neck and are edged with a double knit trim. This longer length cardi has slight a-line shaping and drop sleeves for a comfy and casual look.

I knew that I wanted a really classic open front cardigan included in this book, and I wanted to play with what would be thought of as traditional cables- but with added adventure cables texture. The resulting stitch pattern has great flow since the right and left twist are simple to work, enhancing the cables with added texture for not much extra work. The lines of textured stitches look like tiny tracks in the sand by a river or lake, perhaps a small creature has skittered across leaving a strangely geometric pattern behind before a gently lapping wave smooths it away.

Pattern Notes
This cardigan is worked back and forth from the bottom up in pieces, since this is a longer cardigan worked in superwash yarn the side seams give the cardigan structure and prevent it from stretching. When working with the hand dyed yarn it is best practice to work with 2 skeins at the same time and alternate skeins every 2 rows. For the left front alternate skeins at the beginning of the RS row, for the right front alternate skeins at the beginning of the WS row.
