Seventeen Hats is an idea that came to me while fiddling around with cable patterns. I suddenly ‘saw’ the cable as a hat, and all I could see was hats! And all hats need a fun pompom topper, don’t they? So why settle for one hat when you can knit seventeen?

The hat is knitted in the round from the bottom up with a twisted rib brim, and the small cabled hats are knitted on a reverse stocking stitch background. The mini hats are topped with a knit-in pompom, using a technique similar to adding beads (with a crochet hook), finishing with a larger pompom. For fun effects, use scrap yarn in different colours for the pompoms!

Instructions for making the small pompoms without a pompom maker is included, as well as a photo tutorial for attaching the pompoms.

You’ll get two hats out of the two generous balls of Stylecraft Life Chunky. Just switch the colour scheme, making the body out of the CC yarn from the first hat, with the MC yarn for the accents.

Sizing:
One size differentiated with length of rib section. A roomier fit for children, beanie fit for the adult head.
Child (adult small, adult medium) 44 cm around (relaxed, flat), to fit head: 53 (56, 58) cm.

17 Luer er en morsom lue som er raskt strikket i tykt garn, og har et enkelt flettemotiv i form av små «luer» toppet med en kontrastfarget pompom. Alternativt kan det brukes restegarn i ulike farger i oppleggskant og pompom for en morsom effekt.

Størrelse: En størrelse som differensieres av lengden på vrangborden. På barn blir luen romslig og «baggy», og på voksne mer ettersittende.
Barn (tenåring) medium voksen med hodeomkrets 53 (56, 58) cm.
Mål: 44 cm rundt (ikke strukket). 20 (21) 22 cm høy.
Veiledende pinner: Rundpinne 40 cm 4,5 mm og 5 mm, og settpinner 4,5 mm.
Tilbehør: Maskemarkør, stoppenål, flettepinne, heklenål 2 mm, sytråd i kontrastfarge, pompom-sett til å lage dusker ca 2 cm og 5,5 cm i diameter.
Garn: Per Tyrving P3, 1 nøste à 50 g (83 m) lilla nr 7096 (bunnfarge) og 1 nøste à 50 g (83 m) oransje nr 7043 (kontrastfarge)

Strikkefasthet pr 10 cm: Vridd vrangbord: 20 masker og 22 omg over 10 cm. Flettestrikk/mønster: 16 masker og 22 omg over 10 cm.
