The Shaded Hat & Mittens are made from a decadent Merino-and-yak blend yarn in three colors. Worked in the round from the bottom up, each piece starts with mock-cable ribbing, and the hat is topped with a pom-pom.

Finished Size Hat: 18¼ (22)“ circumference and 9¾” tall. Hat shown measures 18¼“. Mittens: 6½ (8¼, 9¼)” hand circumference and 9 (10, 11½)“ long. Mittens shown measure 8¼”.

Yarn Plymouth Yarn Yakima (85% fine superwash Merino wool, 15% yak; 384 yd 351 m/3½ oz 100 g): #205 Midnight (A), #207 Pewter (B), and #206 Teal (C), 1 skein each.

Needles Hat: Sizes 2½ (3 mm) and 4 (3.5 mm): 16” circular (cir). Size 4 (3.5 mm): set of double-pointed (dpn). Mittens: Sizes 1½ (2.5 mm) and 2½ (3 mm): set of double-pointed (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Markers (m); stitch holder (mittens only); tapestry needle.
