Shadow Box Coat
Striking coat in the Knitting-as-Warp technique, in which the garment is knit in stockinette stitch, and then contrasting colors are woven in to create pattern. (Same instructions as Tricia’s Coat, with contrasting colors woven in following a chart after knitting is finished.)
Level of Difficulty: Intermediate
Measurements:
- Chest: 45 (48, 51, 54 1/2)“
- Length: 28 1/2 (30, 31 1/2, 33)“
Materials:
- Main Color (MC) in chunky weight yarn: 650 (760, 860, 990 ) yds or approx. 6 (7, 8, 9) 3.5oz / 100g balls in dark brown.
- Contrast Colors (CC) in chunky weight yarn or doubled DK/worsted weight yarn: approx. 65 lengths each as follows: 70” of charcoal grays or blacks (CC1); 50” of browns (CC2); 20” of dark red-purples (CC3); 90” of dark reds (CC4); 60” of medium intensity red-oranges (CC5); and 20” of medium intensity oranges and yellow-oranges (CC6).
- Pocket linings in chunky weight yarn: 30 yds MC or any CC or 60 yds DK/worsted weight, doubled.
- Five 1” buttons in CC
