Introducing the Shadowed Cowl – a pattern that transforms two colors into a dueling stripes.

Crafted with simple knits and purls, this cowl reveals bold, horizontal stripes when viewed straight on—but tilt it slightly, and you can see vertical stripes. (Want checks instead? The pattern shows you how!)

This graphic design offers a modern appeal. It’s perfect for newer knitters looking to elevate their skills with a fun, satisfying project, or experienced knitters who want an easy project for TV knitting.

The Shadowed Cowl is as enjoyable to knit as it is to wear.

SIZE
The cowl measures approximately 32” around and 6” high, but can easily be adjusted to be larger or smaller. (Remember to take into account yarn amounts if you make it bigger.)

YARN
You’ll need one light and one dark skein of worsted-weight yarn, about 200 yards of each. We used Malabrigo Rios for the model in Coco and Ankara Green. (This is the perfect project for sports fans using team colors!)

SUGGESTED NEEDLES
U.S. 5 (3.75mm) and 7 (44.5mm) 24” or 32” circular needles. Gauge isn’t crucial.
NOTIONS
Stitch markers, tapestry needle.
