Shapka Fair Isle hat pattern for adults and kids is a lovely, simple design for practising traditional knitting techniques. The pattern comes as a PDF with written instructions in English, charts, and photos. It is available for immediate download after payment and is formatted to print on A4 or US Letter paper. You will need software such as Adobe Reader to open the file (see adobe.com).

This is easy level knitting pattern; the following skills are required: Cast on, Knit, Purl, Circular Knitting, Color Knitting, Bind off. All measurements are given in US and metric. Hat is knitted in one piece. Full pattern support is available via message or email.

SIZES: Adult — 55–60 cm / 21”–24” circumference, Kid — 49–53 cm / 19”–21”.

YARN: Any Aran weight yarn. I used five shades of DROPS Nepal:
28 g / 46 yd moss green 8918,
18 g / 30 yd in dark ivy 8921,
14 g / 24 yd red clay 8914,
13 g / 22 yd goldenrod 2923,
12 g / 20 yd light beige 0206.
You may also need a stitch marker to indicate the beginning of the round.

GAUGE: 10 cm × 10 cm / 4” × 4” = 17 sts × 22 rows in stockinette stitch.

NEEDLES: Circular or double pointed needles 4.5 mm / US 7.
