This is a basic beginner right angle shawl using single ply yarn for the body. It is worked in double crochet to form a mesh and then finished with a border in single crochet and finally worked with an attached fringe. The fringe uses the 2 ply yarn.

The finished size is 44 x 44 x 62 inches (without fringe). It could easily be adapted to a larger or smaller size by adding chains to or subtracting chains from the foundation row and adjusting the amount of single ply yarn purchased.

A size 6 mm hook is normally correct. The shawl is done in mesh and the correct hook and tension will produce a good square mesh.

Materials: 6 mm crochet hook
Yarn: 2 skeins Cottage Craft single ply for body (approximately 720 yards) and 1 skein Cottage Craft 2 ply (275 yards) for fringe
