This tam pattern features an interesting design based upon the delicately beautiful wild flower, Shepherd’s Purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris).
This pattern is part of Weeds, a collection of five tam patterns based on the theme of common garden weeds.
Instructions are given for three sizes, to fit teen, adult or large adult; the different sizes are achieved by varying the ribbing; the hat, being a tam, is roomy and warm.
It is knit in the round, using two colours of Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift 4ply yarn, and utilises stranded techniques.
Sizes: Small, medium narrow, medium wide, large, to fit head circumferences 54 cm (58 cm, 58 cm, 62 cm) / approx.
21 1⁄4” (23”, 23”, 24 1⁄2”) at the brim. Finished sizes at the brim, unstretched, 45 cm (49 cm, 49 cm, 52 cm) / approx.
17 3⁄4” (19 1⁄4”, 19 1⁄4”, 20 1⁄2”).
yardage is quite tight, you may wish to purchase a second ball of each colour for safety:
MC 104 Natural White, small 1 ball, medium and large 2 balls.
CC 769 Willow, small 1 ball, medium and large 2 balls
