YARN:

aran weight (150-170 m/165-190 yds per 100 gr/3.5 oz), depending on the chosen size:
110-140 gr/3.9-4.9 oz.
The Hat was knit in Filati Biagioli Modesto Scozia (bobbin 100% cashmere).
Testers have successfully used the following commercial yarns:

  • Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran (90 m/98 yds per 50g; 55% Merino, 33% Acrylic, 12% Cashmere)
  • Lana Grossa Bingo (80 m/87 yds per 50g; 100 % Virgin wool Merino)
  • Drops Big Merino (75 m/ 82 yds per 50g; 100 % Merino Superwash)
  • Lang yarns merino Plus (90 m/100 yds per 50g; 100 % Merino)
  • Katia Merino Sport (80 m/87 yds per 50g; 100 % Merino Extrafine)

NEEDLES

  • Main needles - size 5 mm/US 8 (or size needed to obtain the gauge!) circular needles on a 40-50 cm/16-20’’ cable + DPNs in the same size for crown decreases.
  • Cast-on - size 4 mm/US 6 circular needles on a 40-50 cm/16-20’’ cable.

TECHNIQUES REQUIRED

  1. Italian cast-on with setup for 22 rib (in the round) - see instructions below.
  2. 22 rib (k2, p2); 21 rib (k2, p1).
  3. Cabling with a cable needle.
  4. Reading charted instructions.
  5. Decreases (k2tog, p2tog).
