MATERIALS

Yarn Characteristics:
Any DK weight yarns can be used, but I would choose one that can easily be washed and machine dried! It is a perfect design for yarns with a long colour change, or a fade set, but it can also be worked in one yarn throughout.

Recommended needle size
always use a needle size that gives you the gauge listed below - every knitter’s gauge is unique
US #6/4mm needles for working flat
US #4/3.5mm long, circular needle for the edging

Notions
Yarn needle, 6 stitch markers, 3 stitch holders or lengths of yarn, 2 removable stitch markers or safety pins, 1 or 2 plastic side release buckles or buttons, depending on belly band and front closures desired.

GAUGE
28 sts/28 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in pattern on larger needles

PATTERN NOTES
When deciding what size rug your dog needs, it is the chest circumference, just behind the front legs, that is important. The back length can be easily adjusted.

There is a link in the pattern to a video of measuring your dog for a rug, and a discussion of various ways of fastening the rug.
