Shetland Stars
For Shetland Wool Week 2023 I designed these little stars for a class that my mother and I were taking.
I was inspired by growing up in Shetland and how on still clear nights the amount of beautiful bright stars you can see in the sky is so amazing.
These stars are knitted flat with a knitted on lace edging. The main body is knitted first with the edging knitted on afterwards. The lace edging is grafted together and then the centre sewn up, the instructions are included in the pattern for how to do this.
The gauge is not listed as it differs from the centre of the star to the lace edging as they are knitted with different size needles. Gauge is not critical for this project but it does affect the finished size and amount of yarn used for each star.
They can be knitted with different yarns but adjusting the needle sizes to match the yarn used is essential.
