I love wearing (and knitting) tubular cowls. For one thing, they offer a great opportunity to experiment with colorwork or textured patterns without having to worry about complex shaping or fit. And the circular construction of the cowl means that no wrong side will show, no matter how the cowl is worn. In addition, the double layers trap air inside the tube, making the cowl extra warm and cozy. The 100% Merino yarn is incredibly soft, which is a very important feature for an accessory you wear around your neck.

This cowl pattern accompanies my technical article on grafting a tubular cowl. In the article, I make the case that a specialized “Kitchener-in-the-round” method is completely unnecessary and that the grafting can be much simpler (with much neater results).
