Shifty Linen Stitch Cowl
by Helen Firing
Everyone loves Linen Stitch, and I’ve used three different but complimentary colours of Bulky (or chunky for non-U.S. knitters!) yarn to achieve a nifty shifty pattern in my cowl.
You’ll need 70-75 yards of each colour and circular needles in a 32”-40” length to make the cowl, along with one place marker.
Gauge is not vital for this project, but a good fabric is achieved at a gauge of 3 to 4 sts to the inch on 8mm needles in Linen Stitch.
Finished measurement is approx. 6 ½ ” wide and has a 50” circumference, so wrapping around your neck twice is no problem.
I’ve also included an optional 2-colour version which gives a cowl of the same length but with a width of approx. 5”.
