These toe-up, German Short Row (GSR) socks were designed for Jimmy Beans Wool to celebrate Discovery Channel’s upcoming Shark Week 2019.

Their kit includes this beautiful yarn by Valkyrie Fibers; a full skein of MC Shallow Waters, 25% of CC Open Ocean and a code to download this pattern.

You can, also just buy the pattern here and use any sock yarn that knits to a gauge of 8 sts per 1” / 2.5 cm. If it is a multi make sure it is light-colored and not too varied or the raised shark and wave rib patterns will not show as well.

Skill Level:
A clear understanding of various decreases is a must. Knowing how to read charts helps but line-by-line instructions for the sharks are included as well. There is some slip-stitch colorwork at the toe, but the part you need to pay attention to is on the leg after you’ve worked the heel.

Mostly it is about your ability to read your knitting. Can you spot where you are by looking at the sock vs. looking at the pattern? The Showy Decreases really do show on the knitting and will guide you as you progress.
