Short and Sweet Socks
I originally designed these socks for our Knitty U series that we ran for our patrons in 2020.
Since then I’ve knitted this design many times, and loved them so much I thought it was time to publish it to everyone!
The socks feature a sweet eyelet pattern, that brings to mind ripe summer strawberries. They are the perfect project for a warm spring or summer day, maybe sat in your garden with your family.
I dyed up some yarn to fit the strawberry theme, but I have also knit them with a single skein of tonal yarn and they are equally as lovely.
Sock Details
The socks have an all over eyelet design, that is inspired by the seeds on a strawberry. It would also be perfect for a watermelon inspired pair, or autumnal blackberries.
I knitted them as short socks, but you can of course knit the leg to whatever length you prefer.
I used a traditional heel flap and gusset construction with my much loved Umbrella Toe.
Sizes
The pattern comes in 3 sizes - Small (56 sts), Medium (64sts) and Large (72 sts). The stitch pattern is both written and charted. Instructions are written for the magic loop method, but other methods can of course be used.
Yarn
I used fingering weight yarn that I dyed myself, the base is 85% superwash merino and 15% nylon. It has 400m to 100g.
