Shoulder Shawl in Cherry Leaf Pattern
Original lace pattern from Weldon’s Practical Knitter.
Pattern Description from Victorian Lace Today: “I have worked this pattern in several different yarns, from fine silk to Shetland wool to a 4-ply kid mohair-merino blend; all are pleasing. This shawl is worked from the point up to the hypotenuse, with the border knitted on afterwards. To make it larger, just knit more repeats!”
Difficulty: Intermediate Lace
Measurements: 33” x 75”
Yarn Weight/Yardage: #2 Fine Weight / 900 yds
Yarn & Colorway: Shown in book in handspun silk. Alternate yarns: FIESTA La Luz of HABU 2.10 Kusaki-Zome. Almost any Fine or Light weight yarn will work; with a thicker yarn, use larger needles and work fewer repeats.

- 4.5mm/US 7 circular needles, or size to obtain gauge, 60cm (24”) or longer
- Two 4mm/US 6 double-pointed needles
