This half-pi shawl is worked by striping three colors as you knit your way through garter, stockinette, and some eyelet rows. It gradually grows larger until you are working the final brioche rib using colors A & B and then colors C & B. Perfect for an adventurous beginner or an experienced knitter looking for something simple yet interesting.

When I made this shawl I used 690 yds of fingering weight yarn (3 colors, 230 yds each), specifically Leading Men Fiber Arts Show Stopper Intermission (Fingering weight 75/25 Superwash Merino/Nylon 231 yds) in Perfection (Color A teal), Olive Juice You, Too! (Color B speckled), and Heliotrope (Color C purple). I used almost every little bit because I don’t like leftover yarn. My test knitters used around 800-850 yds total not necessarily getting exact gauge. As a result, I suggest either size 5 or size 6 needle depending on your gauge and the amount of yardage you have to work with.
