ABOUT
The 90’s-inspired Sigma Scarf is a worsted weight scarf knit in stockinette with a garter stitch border and a variety of solid shapes floating throughout the fabric. This piece uses the intarsia method of changing colors; a way to work clean color changes without carrying floats in the back of your work. The number of chart repeats is included, although charts can be worked as many times as desired for any scarf length. Fringe or tassels can be added to both short ends to further personalize your scarf.

MATERIALS
Yarn: Worsted—Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in 4 colors: Linen (MC), Taupe (C1), Fisherman (C2), and Black (C3)

• 100% Acrylic
• 170 yds (156 m) per 3.5-oz (100-g) skein

Yardage:
MC: 4 skeins or 680 yds (622 m)
C1: 1 skein or 50 yds (46 m)
C2: 1 skein or 50 yds (46 m)
C3: 1 skein or 50 yds (46 m)

Note that different colorways of this yarn have varying yardage. Check the yardage on the label to be sure you will have enough yarn from the same dye lot before beginning.

Needles: Size U.S. 10 (6 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge

Notions: Tapestry needle, 2 stitch markers

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Scarf measures approximately 13.75” (35 cm) wide and 66.75” (170 cm) long.

GAUGE INFORMATION
4 x 4” (10 x 10 cm) = 16 sts and 21 rows in stockinette, blocked.

PATTERN NOTES
Skill Level: Beginner

Color Charts: A few minor changes have been made to the charts on page 5 and 6 that may not be reflected in the sample shown. This is just to better space out each shape.

• The accompanying written instructions are included on page 7 and 8 of the PDF pattern.

Intarsia: This pattern uses the intarsia method of changing colors. Begin each new color with a new ball of yarn and twist yarns on WS of work to prevent holes or gaps between colors. Drop the old color and continue knitting with the new color, only cutting a color when the shape using that color is complete, leaving a long enough tail to weave in afterwards.

• For rows that include multiple sections of MC separated by another color, you can wind some MC onto smaller bobbins, or you can choose to work MC from two separate skeins. In these situations, the sample shown was simply worked from multiple skeins, then fastened off when necessary to avoid wasting any yarn.
