Siipi is a cosy and feminine sweater with a relaxed fit. The sweater features a decorative lace pattern at the front, and the result is soft and easygoing with a modern twist. The sweater has a boat neck and a split hem with a special ribbing pattern. “Siipi” means “wing” in Finnish. The front of the sweater recalls the wings of a young swan during late summertime, when they are growing and gradually turning from grey to white.

NOTES
This sweater is worked from the top down. The back begins with a ribbed detail and is worked flat to the underarms, with the shoulders are shaped with German Short Rows. Stitches for the front are picked up along each shoulder and worked flat to the underarms, with the charts beginning after the ribbed neck detail. Then, the back and front are joined and the body is worked in the round, continuing the charts, down to the hem. The ribbed hems echo the neck detail and are worked separately, with the back being longer than the front. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armholes and worked in St St in the round down to the ribbed cuffs.
