Siltcoos Lake is a beautiful lake on the Oregon Coast where I spent a memorable summer as a child. Looking in Wikipedia I learned that the word Siltcoos is Native American and could refer to the name of a local chief or to a family name. It is also possible that “Tsilt” and “Coos”translates to “plenty elk” in the Coosan language and in reference to the coastal elk herds.

The Oregon Coast is rarely so warm that a light scarf isn’t welcome. A quick project to knit up on big needles with a bamboo or cotton yarn, the Siltcoos Summer Scarf iis the perfect accessory when you want to make or wear a hand knit on warm summer days. The buttonhole construction keeps the scarf in place without wrapping too warmly around your neck and shoulders and the open mesh ensures a very cool feel and look.

The narrow version will use just about one skein of the Ricorumi Spin Spin gradient yarn.
