Silver Creek is a crossover, convertible cardigan with asymmetrical texture on the front and design details at the sleeve cuffs that echo the overall texture and profile. Silver Creek has a sleek and elegant profile with versatile making and wearing options. Choose to work the lower front section straight or with the optional tuxedo cutaway as shown in the sample photos.
Dress up or down with Silver Creek; wear it open or closed, put loops and buttons for permanent conversion options, or use a shawl pin or temporary button as shown. See Jul_Designs’ pins here and use coupon code VERVE to get 10% off on her Pedestal Buttons.
Construction is top-down and seamless with set-in sleeves. The back yoke is worked first, stitches are picked up at shoulders for front yoke sections, fronts and back are joined at underarms and the body is worked down in one piece. Sleeves are shaped with short rows at the cap, then worked in the round and finished with a textured motif at the cuffs. Sleeves, hem and neckline are all finished in I-Cord for a sleek and polished look.
INSPIRATION: Many childhood memories of Silver Creek are reflected in the asymmetrical texture of this crossover, convertible cardigan. There are smooth and rough aspects of a small town and the same can be said about growing up on a farm in a large family. There was a lot of work to be done and then there was play time: swimming and fishing and hiking. Silver Creek starts at Silver Falls above my hometown in Oregon. There are hiking trails around and under 9 waterfalls, gorgeous views, and picturesque bridges as this pretty little creek (it would be called a “river” in many states) meanders its way down through SIlverton.
