DESCRIPTION

Simple Baby Blanket #1 is a quick knit that is perfect for using up your leftover worsted weight yarns from other projects that you just don’t quite know what to do with otherwise. You can easily make this larger by adding additional repeats of the stitch pattern. It is finished off with a crochet border to give it a nice edge. It is perfect for use in a car seat or stroller since it’s not too bulky but very warm. I have included both written and charted instructions for the stitch pattern which is from “The Complete Photo Guide to Knitting” by Margaret Hubert.

Yarn: Sample shown using Shepherd’s Wool by Stonehedge Fiber Mill, worsted weight yarn, 1 skein each of (250 yds/113 grams) “Autumn Gold” and “Roasted Pumpkin” colorway, – you’ll need only about 135 yds/61 grams of each for the blanket – and another skein of “White” colorway for the border (you’ll need 126 yds/57 grams total). Feel free to substitute your favorite worsted weight yarn and use as many or few colors as you’d like.

Gauge: 8 st x 12 rows = 2”x 2”, gauge is not critical, but will affect size and yarn requirements

Needles: US 8 /5 mm 24” circular (to help with number of stitches)

Notions: Tapestry Needle (for weaving in ends), stitch markers, crochet hook size US G / 5 mm for border

Finished size: 18” wide x 24” tall plus 1” wide border
