For accessibility this pattern collection is available in my etsy.com shop and payhip shop. This pattern is one of eight from the e-book “Little Scarves: Baktus and Karius for the Loom”. The Simple Baktus is perhaps the easier of the two scarf forms. Its garter stitch fabric lays flat and makes a lovely triangle with little effort. If you make this in a fingering or lace weight yarn, the fabric will be light and lacy. Even using a single strand of worsted weight yarn on a 5/8 inch gauge loom will create a lacy Baktus. Choose a heavier yarn and add tassels for a warmer Baktus. For a scarf that is both warm and light, try silk mohair, seen in the photo sample. This yarn loves to be knit loosely, allowing the halo of the yarn to fill in the openings. A small amount of yarn makes a lovely, simple Baktus.

Loom: The pattern is written for three loom gauges. The peg numbers below are suggested, but directions are included for varying your scarf size.
5/8 inch = 32 pegs
½ inch = 36 pegs
3/8 inch = 40 pegs

Yarn: photo sample was made with elann.com Silken Kidd in Orchid. The amounts below are suggested:
Lace = 225 yards
Fingering = 200 yards
DK = 185 yards
Worsted = 160 yards
Bulky = 145 yards

My patterns are low vision and screen reader accessible. The text is black, Arial and large print 24 point font. All of the directions are fully written out and no charts are relied on to complete the patterns. No italics are used. They are screen reader and tablet friendly.
