This is a smashing beginner project. It’s small, so it works up quickly, there’s only one buttonhole (easy!), and the only shaping is at the front neck. Sleeve tops are flat for a drop shoulder. It shows off variegated yarns extremely well. Once you’ve done the jacket, the booties aren’t a swot at all; there’s an eyelet row (just a series of yo buttonholes, really) for the little ties, and they’re knit flat so you don’t have to fuss with a lot of DPN’s. The ties and (optional) edgings are crocheted for a little fun at the end.
