Simple Karius with a Beaded Edge
This pattern is one of eight from the e-book “Little Scarves: Baktus and Karius for the Loom”. A Karius scarf has a beautiful simplicity from that comes from its stockinette fabric. It lends itself to all types and weights of yarn. When you want a simple scarf that lets the yarn show off, Karius is the perfect choice. This pattern for a Simple Karius has a beaded edge on the lower part of the scarf. The pattern includes instructions for how to calculate your beads, and for adding more or omitting the beads.
Loom: The pattern is written for three loom gauges, and includes instructions for variable sizing.
5/8 inch = 28 pegs
½ inch = 32 pegs
3/8 inch = 36 pegs
Yarn: photo sample made with Cascade Venezia Worsted in Strawberry Cream, a 70/30 merino wool/silk blend. The yarn amounts below are suggested:
Lace = 225 yards
Fingering = 200 yards
DK = 185 yards
Worsted = 160 yards
Bulky = 145 yards
The e-book comes with two files. One is a large print 24 point font, and the other is a 12 point font paper-saver file. The book includes 8 patterns, as well as information on variations for your Simple Karius with a Beaded Edge and a photo gallery.
My patterns are low vision and screen reader accessible. The text is black, Arial and large print 24 point font. All of the directions are fully written out and no charts are relied on to complete the patterns. No italics are used. They are screen reader and tablet friendly.
